Several key figures in broadcasting, advocacy, and minority media ownership have formally congratulated Brendan Carr on his recent appointment as Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This endorsement is a strong affirmation of his leadership role in modernizing the industry.
A joint letter signed by leaders from the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA), U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. (USBC), Roberts Radio Broadcasting, LLC, Multicultural Media, Telecom & Internet Council (MMTC), and the National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB) praises Chairman Carr for his significant contributions to broadcasting technology and policy reform.
In their letter, the signatories commend Carr for his early support and his leadership in promoting radio geo-targeting technology. These advancements are viewed as crucial for the broadcast industry to remain competitive and relevant in the digital age.
“We are writing to congratulate you on becoming the Chairman of the FCC. You take on this important role with a remarkable background and experience and are in a strong position to deliver results that benefit the American public,” the letter reads. It highlights Carr’s open-minded approach and commitment to understanding the practical daily functions of industries and companies.
The leaders also acknowledged Carr’s ability to foster bipartisan collaboration, notably his work with Commissioner Starks on radio geo-targeting, which has allowed radio broadcasters to enhance community service and compete more effectively for advertising revenue.
