Veteran radio personality Melz on the MIC departs Townsquare Media’s KISX-FM in Tyler-Longview after a four-year run with the Urban outlet. Melz, who has 15 years in the industry, had become a fixture in the Tyler, Killeen and Temple communities. Before joining KISX, Melz served nearly a decade at KSSM & KOOC in Killeen-Temple, where he was the Assistant Program Director and an air personality. His tenure at KISX-FM culminated in his promotion to Brand Manager in 2022.
During his time at the station, Melz was instrumental in rebranding “Hot 107.3 Jamz” to “Kiss-FM.” He also had a deep commitment to local causes, notably organizing events like the Sickle Cell Anemia Telethon, Melz Birthday Turkey Giveaway, and a community coat drive.
Melz expressed gratitude towards his listeners and colleagues, emphasizing that his leaving is not a farewell but a transitional “see you later.” He reassured his audience of his continued presence in the broadcasting realm through his syndicated weekend show, “Brown Liquor Music,” a Southern Soul & Blues Mixshow, which airs across several Southern markets.
