For six years now, personality has emerged as an important driver to radio listening in Jacobs Media’s annual Techsurveys than music. Yet, talent continues to be a misunderstood part of radio’s success formula. The firm’s AQ studies are unique to radio as the only research conducted among air personalities.
Two weeks ago, Jacobs Media presented the top-line findings to Morning Show Boot Camp attendees. Now, it’s preparing a special deck of AQ findings for anyone and everyone in radio interested in the mindset of radio’s most valuable ambassadors – its air talent.
In collaboration with Don Anthony and Morning Show Boot Camp, Jacobs Media surveyed more than 500 participating U.S. radio personalities, hosts, and producers in the U.S. for AQ6, including nearly 60 of whom are currently unemployed. They told us how they feel about key issues affecting their jobs and their careers – their thoughts on AI’s current and future impact, how many “hats” they’re wearing, what motivates them to be behind the mic, and whether or not they have a “side hustle.” And they’re aboutt to share it all with you.
“We’ve learned a lot about the mindset of radio air personalities in our first five studies,” said Jacobs Media’s President Fred Jacobs. “Our new AQ6 study continues our investigation into how air personalities view their careers, their employers, and their industry.
