The podcast will premiere on the Black Voters Matter YouTube channel on January 20 at 7 AM ET and will be available across other social media at 10 AM.
In light of the current political climate and the continued marginalization of Black communities, Black Voters Matter (BVM) is set to launch its new podcast Unnamed and Unbound: Black Voters Matter Podcast beginning on January 20, 2025. Strategically set to launch during the twice impeached convicted felon’s inauguration to voice opposition to the authoritarian policies being proposed. Black Voters Matter will continue to show up and FIGHT BACK against injustice in all its forms.
Unnamed and Unbound’s mission is to break down politics and policy in a clear and concise way . It’s a name that honors the past while boldly claiming the future, much like Black Voters Matter’s approach to power-building. Unnamed speaks to the countless unnamed freedom fighters throughout the movement – those whose stories were deliberately erased, whose contributions went unrecognized, and whose voices were silenced. For BVM, it also represents those who still go unheard in today’s political discourse, Black voters, whose experiences and needs are often overlooked by mainstream media and politicians. To be unbound is to speak freely, to move without restriction, and to build power without limitation.
Black audiences make up nearly half of the 135 million Americans who consume news and information from podcasts every month. BVM’s goal is to cut through the noise and sensationalism of mainstream media to provide listeners with accurate information from a Black perspective. This bi-weekly podcast will explore topics relating to BVM’s work to build power in Black communities through its social and environmental justice initiatives, criminal justice reform, healthcare, reproductive freedom, and reparations all while reimagining what an inclusive democracy looks like. The podcast will feature a variety of guests including subject matter experts, grassroots organizers, and activists to help break down topics and examine how we move forward under a hostile administration.
Episode 1: Black & Mad – A Post-Election Reflection is a raw and uncut reaction from Black Voters Matter’s co-founders following the 2024 election.
Episodes will premiere via the Black Voters Matter YouTube channel and will later be uploaded to X/Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Co-founders Cliff Albright and LaTosha Brown are available for interviews to weigh in on the inauguration day news coverage. Please send email requests to Blackvotersmatter@fenton.com.
